A great big thanks to John, Donna, our instructors Al and Todd as well as the whole Tailwheels family. We had an awesome time and you were wonderful hosts. The extra flights you gave each of us in the Fairchild PT-23 were the icing on the cake.
This morning in sunny Florida we are waiting for the fog to burn off and some sun to appear. This has been an unusual weather pattern here this week with fog on 3 mornings. This means a late start to flying but still we manage to get in a full day once the fog burns off.
Yesterday, Elias was the first student to go on a night flight with his instructor, Al. He got to see the fireworks at Disneyworld from the air…. a great experience.
All of our students are making great progress and a couple of them are close to flying solo.
It’s been a great week and I think we’ll all be a little sad to be leaving for home tomorrow.
Today I had my first round of touch and go’s in Winter Haven, I was up flying for about an hour and a half and I never left the pattern. Landing by yourself is a great feeling and I hope that through practice I can eventually execute them nicely. In addition to this the short flight in the 1944 Fairchild was amazing. I am really glad I came to this trip with accompanied by this cool group of bears.
Mr Lee says good things can happen when you hang out at an airport and it was true here at Winter Haven today. Two of our students were treated to a flight in a 1940s vintage Fairchild by our friendly Flight School owner. Here is Elias reliving the dream of a WWII fighter pilot just before take off.
